Your nightstand is one of the most functional pieces in your bedroom. While it serves many purposes, there’s no reason that it can’t be functional and beautiful! Here are some of my tips in decorating your nightstand.
- You need a lamp! Choose a lamp that only takes up no more than 1/2 of the width of your dresser. Anything too big will look disproportional. Use a bulb of 2700 Kelvin for a soft glow.
- Add something natural. Greenery, flowers, or seashells, add something from nature! I don’t care if its faux or real, flowers or greenery softens up the look and immediately makes your bedroom feel more home-y. Don’t have room on your nightstand? Add it to a shelf on the bottom or at least on your dresser!
- Pick out a tray or bowl. If you don’t have a drawer to keep your chapstick, jewelry, or eye cream, adding a tray is the next best thing! Keep it on the smaller side and only store the essentials. Even if you have a drawer, a small tray or bowl is a cute touch!
- Make it personal. Your bedroom should make you feel relaxed & at home. Pick out a print of your favorite place or somewhere you’d like to go. Make sure it has soft colors. If you don’t want a print of a place, add a favorite family photo or a scripted print of your favorite saying or bible verse. Framing it makes it more elegant. Make sure the frame is proportional to the nightstand by not making it wider! If you don’t want any art or pictures, a mirror is a great substitute!
- Layer all of these things in front of each other and remember if you’re unsure, simple is better!
