Baby boy is due in December and I have had so much fun planning his nursery! We will be in a rental the first 8 months of his life (hopefully only 6, fingers crossed!) so I have to take renting into account. We don’t have a rental yet, so I don’t know what his room will look like. I am just imagining everything where his actual nursery will be when our house is done. Since I was born in South Africa I knew I wanted to tie in African elements – neutral colors, lots of texture, and of course African animals. I think I will try to find some cute pieces of art or some baskets to go on the walls. My goal is to also pieces that he can grow into and not make the room “too baby”. I don’t want to have to choose a ton of new pieces or re-do the wallpaper when he is a toddler.

The first piece I wanted to choose was the chair. Being the item we were going to be spending the most amount of money on, I wanted to make sure it was comfy, functional, and was the right style we were going for. We sat in a few from Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel and decided to go with the PB one! Its a power chair and we got it in a performance boucle fabric. It gives off a subtle texture and will be perfect in the nursery! While boucle is a trend right now, it’s here to stay and will be a timeless piece to use for any other kids we may have.

The other piece we have ordered so far is the crib! I love the color and it was the perfect wood finish. It converts to a toddler bed and there wasn’t a huge wait time for shipping, which was great.
