Do you ever get the itch to change up something in your home? To change the decor (seasonal decor or not), paint a wall, or rearrange furniture? I feel like that alllll the time! I love changing the interiors of rooms in my home; big changes and small! Keeping things fresh is important to me, especially when it comes to living room design, my office, bedroom, or decor.

In this blog post I want to share some tips for updating your bathrooms (especially if you too love to update spaces around your home!) We have 2 bathrooms in our home, a master and a guest. Both are small and the guest bathroom is windowless. We gave our bathroom a budget friendly makeover at the very end of 2019 and included some before and after photos in this post.

Here’s a before:

This is when I initially started painting it white…then hated it.

Here are some affordable ways to upgrade a bathroom:

  1. Paint! Never underestimate the power of paint. Since this bathroom is windowless we went with a dark color. I initially wanted to paint it white and immediately hated it. So dark blue it was!
  2. Add art. I hung a mini gallery wall with some fun bathroom inspired prints. To save money, buy digital downloads of art online and then print at home or print at Walgreens!
  3. Decorate with some flowers and a vase
  4. Hang 2 shower curtains as opposed to 1 (now you’ve gone from a regular bathroom to a fancy bathroom!)
  5. Choose a fun rug.
  6. Light a candle. Your guests will love it!

We did each of these 6 things in our guest bath and it completely changed the look and feel of it! In total we spent around $150. In my blog post I’ve included some prints that would look perfect in a bathroom as well as tons of before and after pictures.
