Spring is almost here (even though it snowed in Cary, NC this past weekend!) & I have been slowly refreshing my home with new/old decor. Post-Christmas home vibes usually leave my home feeling empty, flat, and a little sad. This doesn’t have to be the case! If you are looking to feel inspired in decorating your home for spring, keep reading!

Here are some tips for decorating for spring, the CRD way:

  1. Take everything down.
I like to start with taking everything down off my mantle, table tops, and any other surface.
  2. Mix finishes and textures.
My mantle currently has a combination of gold, wood, and porcelain.
The top of my caned cabinet has a mixture of concrete, soapstone, and wood. I love, love, love to have a mixture of everything! It keeps things interesting & helps keep your space from feeling “flat”.
  3. Keep everything neutral and incorporate pops of subtle color.
I prefer a blank slate and then to have the option of using color when I’m inspired to. The pink vase on the mantle is perfect for valentines day decor and the blue soap stone is refreshing for spring.
Our house tends to be slightly dark so using white accents really brightens up our living room! It’s also a nice change from all the greenery that we put out at Christmas time.
  4. Put out fresh flowers!
  5. Swap out sprays/candles for floral scents. Looking at you, Mrs. Meyers cleaning products.
  6. Lastly, swap around your art! I love to download art and then print it at a local drugstore. Not only is this affordable, but it allows me to switch out my wall art more frequently!
I have a combination of textures and materials on our TV console also! Our Samsung Frame TV can show different pieces of art that can change with the seasons, so I will be swapping out the aspens for something more spring-like.
